Alexander De Matteis lll Named a VIP of the Year for Excellence in Health & Physical Education
Alexander De Matteis makes it a priority to educate his students on accountibility and civility, while helping them enjoy going to classes and learning
ST. LOUIS, MO, November 11, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alexander De Matteis lll, Teacher at Seven Holy Founders School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in health and physical education.
Though Mr. De Matteis served in the U.S. Army for two decades, he always knew that he wanted to be a teacher and coach. Today, he has 11 years of experience in the education field, the last three of which he has spent as a teacher at Seven Holy Founders School in St. Louis, Mo. Mr. De Matteis teaches health and physical education while striving to help students enjoy going to classes and learning. He also coaches basketball for freshman students at Saint Mary's High School, Saint Louis Mo. and makes it a priority to educate his students on accountability and civility. A member of the school's sports council committee, Saint Louis Sports Commission, Saint Louis High School Coaches Association, NCAA Sports Council Commission, and the NCAA Educators Coaches Council, America, he was recently honored with a sportsmanship award at a local basketball tournament. He was also distinguished as a VIP of the Year by Cambridge Who's Who.
While a high school student at Ralph R. McKee Vocational and Technical High School on Staten Island, NY, Mr. De Matteis had the privilege of playing three varsity sports - cross country, basketball and baseball. The coaches were: Harry S. Shiffman (cross country); Micky Burns (basketball); and Robert E. Steel (baseball coach and athletic director). As an undergraduate and intercollegiate athlete at City College of New York, he played baseball and basketball. The head men's basketball coach was Dr. Floyd Lane and the head men's baseball coach was Jack Tracy.
Mr. De Matteis holds a master's degree in educational administration from Fontbonne University. He previously earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis with certification in physical education (K-12) in health, a bachelor's degree in management, with a concentration in history and German language from Maryville University, and a bachelor's degree in business administration with a minor in marketing from City College of New York.
In the years to come, Mr. De Matteis intends to pursue a Ph.D. in educational administration and become a college-level athletic director. He maintains affiliations with The Disabled Veterans Association, The Children's Hospital and Research Organization of America, The VFW and The American Legion.
